Today was the first real play session I've had with Tug for 5 days or so. I had a plan, but I was willing to change it. There were some good and bad moments, but they didn't go from bad to good or good to bad. Instead, they were mixed together so I don't know what that means.
Tug was at the end of the pasture, so we started down there. I tried some stick to me, and he did really good. Then the mares decided to have a nice run down the pasture and Tug never made a move as they ran away. He was eating beside me, and when they ran, all he did was watch and then he went back to eating. So back down the pasture we go after having some circling trouble. When we got there, we played the circling game on a hill, which seemed to straighten his problem out. :) When the mares almost had a collision and started squealling, he started to trot beside me but he soon quit. Then we yo-yoed through the round pen gate and tried the figure 8 pattern. He was fine at first but I can't remember now what problem he had. :P Then I realized I was putting pressure on him when he went through the cones so I stopped looking at him. That seemed to help. :) At one point, he offered to put his foot on the cone! I don't know if he was confused or what, because he tried that and going sideways. Anyways, next we did sideways to the left over a cone. Had an issue with that, but then he did it almost perfectly. :) Oh, and he offered to roll the tarp up around his feet when we first got in the roundpen. So since it seemed like he really wanted to play touch it, I took him out to some concrete blocks where he filed his hooves down by pawing at them. :P
I really don't know what to think about this session.
